Dolly Vardon/Arctic Char
Togiak River Dolly Vardon begin their return in middle to late June as more King and Chum Salmon migrate up the river. From there, they will follow spawning Kings, Chums, Sockeye and pink Salmon up the tributaries and upper river of the Togiak and feed on Salmon eggs and decaying carcasses.
Dolly Vardon are known for their aggressiveness and one of kind color scheme. In mid to late July, it is not uncommon to catch 100+ Dolly Vardon on fly rods and conventional gear when targeted in the small tributaries.
